Jonas Salk is remembered for the seminal role he played in ridding the world of polio.
Jonas Salk was a very humble man. He decided to not have a patent on his vaccine. He said," There is no patent. Could you patent the sun?" The vaccine was thought of as a gift. Jonas Salk completely dedicated his live to research. He wanted to find cures and prevention for cancer, multiple sclerosis and many other diseases of the immune system. He founded the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in San, Diego California. Jonas Salk died on June 23, 1995 at the age of 70. While Jonas Salk died, his legacy lived on forever. He opened the way for many other scientists to bring their own dreams to reality. Jonas Salk believed that scientific discoveries came from creative thinking.
